Do you have an anxious child?

Is your child anxious? Perhaps they seem to hold lots of worries?

Here’s a GREAT idea from Cara @stepbystepspsychology.

Creating a Worry Box! 📦
How to use the Worry Box??

💕 Create a time each day to discuss any worries
💕 Write/draw your child’s worries on paper & place them in the worry box
💕 Take time to listen & talk through each worry
💕 In a few days, check in & see if this is still a worry
💕 If the worry no longer exists, do something fun with it to ‘put it to bed’ (make a paper plane, scrunch it, make origami)
💕 We don't want to use the box for building daily worries! If your child does not have any worries at all, still spend that time together (reading / drawing / chatting). That way they won’t just associate 1:1 time with talking about worries & so create worries for the sake of filling this time!!
💕 Avoid the end of the day, just before your child heads to bed so any potential worries aren’t at the centre of their thinking come sleep time
💕 Don't feel you need to spend too much time on worries. We certainly want to acknowledge them but we want to be careful not to dwell on them too much. Listen, address and move on.
