Bluey nails parenting!
Bluey has some of the BEST parenting inspo going around!
And it will be the BEST 7 minutes of your day. Notice your child’s face as they watch & you’ll see pure joy! Observe adult’s faces & you’ll soon realise it’s a show that’s not just meant for kids! It’s both funny & relatable, silly & entertaining, truthful and refreshing.
Bluey is brilliant for its story lines, its focus on play & imagination but also for the life lessons it teaches - to kids & parents alike! The characters of mum and dad demonstrate a perfect way of communicating to their kids, transparently & on their level.
Our favourite teachings from Bluey:
➡️ When a child gives you a gift (be it a rock, scrunched up paper or a texta lid), it means EVERYTHING! Show your appreciation and gratitude even though it seems insignificant to us as adults, it means your child is thinking of you and wanting to give you something special (something that’s special to them)
➡️ Help confident children to “find their ears” & the more passive children to “find their voice”
➡️ Do you have a child who prefers to be carried then to walk themselves? Easy! Distract them with games as they walk. You can try, I spy, jumping over the cracks in the concrete (pretending it’s a crocodile). As Bluey points out, “Your legs don’t get as tired when you’re having fun”
➡️ Wait & give your child the time & the chance to solve their own problems rather than solving problems for them
➡️ Your children love seeing you have fun!! Get wet under a garden tap, put your windscreen wipers on full, dance in the middle of the street with no inhibitions!
➡️ And if you need some further inspiration for some new fun games:
♥️ When in the car, see if your kids can find cars that match all the colours of the rainbow.
❤️ Hairy Monster attack - take a ride through a carwash
♥️ Magic Xylophone - “freeze” each other
Bluey gives us parents play ideas as well as the permission to play! So powerful!
But perhaps my favourite reminder from Bluey, is that failing ‘mum school' happens but we can always start again tomorrow. Now isn’t that a relief!
