Why visual schedules work

Visual schedules, or planners, help us remember and follow through with daily routines and tasks. Our days are getting busier and our weeks are becoming fuller, so visual schedules help us to not miss that important thing!

Visual schedules help:

Recall - take the load off you to remember EVERYTHING which can be overwhelming when there’s lots going on

Reduce anxiety - your day and week suddenly becomes predictable which can decrease anxiety and instill a sense of calm

Organize and manage your time - break down your day into smaller more manageable tasks

Foster independence - helpful when someone relies on another person to complete tasks or to remember jobs for them

Communication - shows people what’s inside your head and can help others to follow what’s going on (think less nagging to family members!!)

Understanding - helpful when there is a language barrier or processing challenges. We then know what is expected of us and what we should do.

Why don’t you try using a visual schedule to help setup your week. Expect to feel organised, calm and ready to tactile anything!
